The WHO policies and strategies are as follows:

Violence and Injury Prevention (VI):

(i) Improving surveillance on magnitude of determinants of injuries and violence; (ii) developing policies, plans to prevent violence and injuries; (iii) strengthening guidelines and tools on injuries and violence prevention development;(iv) developing human resources, (v) strengthening networks and partnerships; (vi)  ensuring emergency and long term care services for the  injured;(vii) promoting good practices related to helmet and seat-belt wearing, not drinking and driving, and not speeding; (viii) developing research on the causes, consequences of injury and violence.

Disability and Rehabilitation (DAR):

(i) Supporting the implementation of the UN Convention on Rights of Persons with disabilities; (ii) improving data collection and analysis on disabilities ;(iii) strengthening management and social rehabilitation for persons with disabilities and provision of orthopaedic and mobility assistive devices and services; (IV) strengthening partnerships and networks.

Blindness and Deafness Prevention
(BL):

(i) improving data collection, analysis and disseminating on hearing and visual impairment including blindness, and on eye care structures; (ii) advocating for mobilization of resources,  development and implementation of policies, plans and programmes on hearing and visual impairment prevention and control; (iii) strengthening disease control; (iv) developing partnerships  and networks (v) developing human resources in recognition of the multidisciplinary nature of eye care, and infrastructure; and (vi) integration of eye care services into existing Primary Health Care system; (vii) developing research on  cost effectiveness on prevention of Visual impairment interventions.
