The Task Force on Immunization in Africa (TFI)

Imprimer

The TFI is an advisory body that was established in 1993 as an independent group of public health experts in the African Region. The TFI was mandated to provide independent technical guidance to the World Health Organization Regional Office for Africa (WHO/AFRO) in identifying cost-effective strategies aimed at ensuring the delivery of quality immunization services in the African Region.

Members are selected by the Regional Director for a five-year term, renewable, for a maximum of two consecutive terms. Although members serve in their personal capacities, selection is based on their role as leaders of major immunization operations.

TFI Members are required to disclose any conflict of interest or involvement (financial, professional, or otherwise) in a project or proposal under consideration, and will generally not participate in discussions concerning that project or proposal. TFI Members may be required to complete the declaration of interest form for WHO experts.

The Terms of Reference of members of the TFI are to:

  • Participate in the discussions and deliberations during the plenary and small working groups.
  • Play a leadership role in plenary and group discussions to make sure deliberations are in line with the EPI Regional Strategic Plan.
  • Participate in evaluation of every year's activities and orientation of the following year's work plan.
  • Meet in the core group of TFI after close of each day and compile recommendations.
