WHO policies & strategies
The 2009 - 2013 African Regional EPI Strategic Plan was developed in line with the Global Immunization Vision and Strategy (GIVS) and has 5 main strategic areas:
- Maximizing access to immunization
- Accelerating Disease Control
- Ensuring immunization safety
- Promoting innovations and
- Linking immunization to other interventions.
It is expected that optimal implementation of these strategic areas will consolidate the progress made so far, contribute to the attainment of global and regional immunization targets, including MDGs and strengthen national health systems.
