International Health regulations (IHR)
The mission of International Health regulations (IHR) is:
- To contribute to the prevention, reporting and response to Health risks/Public Health Emergency of International Concern under the New International Health Regulations by planning, programming, monitoring and evaluating the implementation of the revised International Health Regulations
- To Support the introduction and implementation of the revised International Health Regulations (IHR 2005).
The core responsibilities are:
- To support Coordinate and monitor the implementation of International Health Regulations (IHR) in the Region;
- To provide technical support to the Member States in situation analysis, assessment To support Member States in the implementation of International Health Regulations (IHR);
- Support interventions within the Regional Office to be undertaken for mobilization of technical and financial resources for IHR implementation in the region;
- To develop and implement plan for incorporation of the revised IHR into Integrated
- To assist Member States in the preparation of project proposals and appeals for mobilizing additional resources for implementation of International Health Regulations;
- To develop guidelines, tools and training materials relevant to the IHR
