Dr OkelloDr David Okello is the new Acting WHO Country Representative for Nigeria. He was formerly the Director of the AIDS, TB and Malaria Cluster at the WHO Regional Office for Africa. In this role he supervised WHO’s work in contributing to the reduction of the disease burden in Africa due to the three diseases.

Prior to this, Dr Okello worked as WHO Representative in Swaziland and Kenya, he also supervised the WHO country office in South Africa for a year.

In his role as WHO Representative these countries, Dr Okello has gained extensive experience in providing Government officials with policy advice on matters of health and development. He has coordinated in-country WHO technical support, providing leadership for the implementation of WHO workplans, as developed in consultation with Government and Development Partners. He has published widely in peer reviewed health journals on a range of subjects in public health, health economics and planning. He is a graduate of Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda.
