The mission of the Division of Prevention & Control of Communicable Diseases is to provide technical orientation and support to the countries of the African Region based on the resolutions and the recommendations of the Governing Bodies regarding the prevention and control of communicable diseases, the elimination of leprosy, neonatal tetanus and control of measles, the eradication of poliomyelitis and dracunculiasis as well as the elimination or eradication of any other communicable diseases.
