Regional targets

The regional priorities for the  Health Policy & Service Delivery Programme include:

    • Strengthening organization and management of health service delivery to provide integrated essential health care services using the Primary Health Care Approach,
    • Strengthening country capacity for policy development, strategic planning, implementation and regulation through participatory mechanisms.
    • Improving country capacity to coordinate various mechanisms(including donors assistance) in their efforts to achieve national and global targets
    • Supporting the implementation of the Ouagadougou Declaration on Primary Health Care and Health Systems in Africa and other strategies.

      The regional targets relate to the number of countries that have created and improved distiribution of health facilities/service delivery points per population. The table below shows the targets for 2010 - 2011 biennuim and for the 6 year target between 2008 and 2013:
