The Health Risk Factors area supports Member States to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate policies, strategies and programmes for the prevention and control of the major risk factors for Health Conditions resulting from environmental, economic, social, cultural and behavioral determinants in the population.

The functions of the Programme are to:

  • Provide leadership and partnership in coordinating intersectoral approaches in the prevention and control of major risk factors for Health Conditions.
  • Support research and dissemination of knowledge in the prevention and control of major risk factors for Health Conditions
  • Support the development and dissemination of tools, norms and standards related to the prevention and control of major risk factors for Health Conditions
  • Support Member States in developing, implementing and evaluating comprehensive policies and action plans for the prevention and control of major risk factors for Health Conditions
  • Support Member States in improving surveillance and monitoring of trends of major risk factors for Health Conditions.
