Director Programme Management (DPM)
Mission and functions
The mission of the Office of the Director Programme Management is to support WHO country offices, inter-country support teams (ISTs) and regional technical programmes in putting the global health agenda into effect through the implementation of the WHO managerial framework in the African Region towards the achievement of expected results.
The functions of the Office are:
- To provide guidance and coordination of the formulation, monitoring and evaluation of operational plans aimed at achieving organizational expected results in line with WHO global objectives and expected results
- To coordinate the implementation of WHO technical programmes in the African Region
- To organize activities of Governing Bodies in the Region and facilitation of the participation of African Member States in the deliberations of WHO governing bodies at global level
- To provide support to countries for the strengthening of health information, research and knowledge systems to facilitate effective use of knowledge to improve the health of the people
- To monitor basic health indicators in the African Region
- To coordinate the preparation and production of WHO regional publications
- To communicate WHO interventions and activities to decision-makers, health leaders and the general public.
