Objectives/functions

The key functions of the Non Communicable Disease Prevention & Control programme are to:
  • provide support and promote NPC programs using cost-effective and community-based approaches;
  • promote primary, secondary and tertiary prevention;
  • develop guidelines and support the use of affordable strategies and technologies for delivery of quality care services;
  • support, document and disseminate experience in implementing comprehensive and integrated policies and plans of action on NCDs including at primary care level;
  • foster operational research on NCDs and their risk factors.
