Since January 2012, Sierra Leone has registered (as of 22 August 2012) 12,456 cholera cases including 224 deaths (CFR=1.8) in 10 out of 13 districts, including Bo, Bombali, Bonthe, Kambia, Kono, Moyamba, Port Loko and Pujehun and Tonkolili and Western Area (Freetown included as of 01 August). Since early July, a sharp increase in the weekly incidence of cholera cases has been reported. The two most heavily affected districts are Port Loko and Western Area. The two newly affected districts are Bonthe and Kono.
