Between January and February 2012, a cumulative total of 10 691 cases and 178 deaths were reported from 13 countries ( CFR: 1.7%). The Democratic Re-public of Congo and sierra Leone accounted for 86% of the total number of cases and 65% of the total num-ber of deaths (Table 1, Figs 1 and 2)

Actions taken
WHO continues to provide support to the affected countries in the areas of case management, active surveillance, outbreak investigation, sensitization, co-ordination and resource mobilization.
