The 63rd Session of the World Health Assembly adopted resolution WHA63.19 which requests WHO to develop a WHO HIV/AIDS Strategy for 2011-2015, through a broad consultative process at all levels.

The final draft strategy is expected be ready by the end of October 2010 in order to be submitted to the WHO Executive Board in January 2011 after receiving contributions from various stakeholders. This requires that the draft document be disseminated to all levels in the six WHO regions for consultations using the provided guide and reporting template. The consultative process includes face to face meetings and other mechanism with major constituencies, development partners, people living with HIV and civil society organizations.

The inputs and comments from countries, Inter country Support Teams as well as Clusters at the Regional Office will be compiled at regional level and shared with HQ for finalization of the draft.
The review process is still ongoing and it is expected to have the maximum of contributions from the countries, IST and clusters before end of September 2010.
