The mission of the WHO Cape Verde Country Office is to promote the attainment of the highest sustainable level of health by all people living in Cape Verde through collaboration with the government and other partners in health development and the provision of technical and logistic support to country programmes.
An agreement between WHO and Cape Verde was signed in 1977, establishing the technical cooperation for the development of the country's health system. The cooperation with WHO became stronger in 1988 when a WHO representative was appointed and WHO's role become more substantial, helping to define the direction of the development of the health system and associated programmes.
