Blood Safety Programme 
Lack of policy and regulation, inadequate organisation of blood transfusion services, shortage of funds and inadequate qualified personnel make it difficult to access safe blood in most of the Member States of the WHO African Region. More

Health Financing and Social Protection
The mission of HFS is to provide evidence-based technical support to countries in the development and implementation of equitable and comprehensive health financing policies and strategic plans that incorporate equitable and efficient mechanisms for collecting funds from various sources, pooling them to share financial risks across larger population groups, and using them to pay for services from public and private health-care providers. It will entail evolving a culture for using health economics principles and evidence in policy-making, planning, choice of interventions, equitable resource allocation and efficient use to maximize health benefits. More

WHO has the responsibility to collaborate with Member States in the generation and the use of appropriate health information to support decision making, health care delivery and management of health services, at the national and sub-national levels. More
