On 25
April 2003, the Head of State of Kenya with his top government officials
will be joined by the Regional Directors of WHO and UNICEF, and other Roll
Back Malaria partners at a high profile event in Nairobi, Kenya to launch
the Africa Malaria Report 2003. This report which is a joint effort of WHO
and UNICEF, takes stock of the malaria situation and the efforts of
governments of African countries and their partners to tackle the disease.
The report has six
chapters covering:
1. The burden of
malaria
2. Insecticide treated nets
3. Prompt and effective treatment
4. Malaria during pregnancy
5. Response to epidemics and complex emergencies
6. Resource mobilization and financing.
It
also contains country profiles that provide the best information available
to WHO and UNICEF from sample surveys and routine reports at the end of
2002.
